Threading the weather needle and slipping in successfully, "Discovery" glides down to her wheels contact point. Landing weather criteria for the orbiter can be stringent coupled with the fact that the de-orbit burn has to happen about 45 minutes before touchdown. Hence, the weather clearence has to be accurate in advance for the power off landing. This was a very tight window and all the way to last minute before the de-orbit burn, it appeared she was going to Edward AFB,California as the alternate landing had better weather.
