"Atlantis" emerges out of Orbiter Processing Facility #02 for the final time. Soon she will be on her way to the Vehicle Assembly Building to be "stacked" with her tank and solid rocket boosters. Her size is frequently compared to that of a DC-9. I find while the DC-9-40 has similar length (Orbiter=122.17 ft (37.24 m); DC-9-40=125 ft 7 in (38.28 m), the other specs are different and makes the orbiter appear to be more muscular than a DC-9.
