Actually this is not very dramatic. DC-8's fly nose low during approach because they lack leading edge slats. They have only a leading edge slot, yes slot not slat, on each wing between the engines.

Love it, the colours, the busy background, the smart livery and awesome location (Florida!), the jetwash/heat haze, and apparent drama, which is not so bad, then. Thanks to the German visitor for the explanation.
