Remark Photographer
NZ3906 (cn F9570) Launching from the frigate HMNZS Waikato whilst we were operating off the Bay of Plenty on New Zealand's White Island. The Wasp served with several navies including the UK, Brazil, South Africa, Netherlands, Indonesia and Malaysia. This Wasp started out as XS543 with the RN in April 1964, before being bought by the RNZN in Dec 1982 and finally retired in 1995. It is currently on display at the RNZAF Museum at Wigram. Although not the most potent helicopter in the world, flying off a pitching deck in one of these was a hell of a ride!
