Remark Photographer
N251L (cn 122-31590) Rescue of remains of a Mustang. The aircraft was P-51D 44-63864 "HL-W" 83 FS / 78 FG "Twilight Tear". It had been buried at the Fire Dump at Keflavík for many years. It had crashed there 06.06.1962. Later transported to Reykjavík Airport and stored, although subsequently dumped again. Then again rescued and sold off to Canada, then tranferred to USA for inclusion in a rebuild. Became N42805 and later N251L again. Old Mustangs never die, just fade away.. for a while anyway. Many wrecks of USAF F-89 Scorpions behind.
