Airbus A330-323 - Northwest Airlines

NWA's livery is indeed very nice, but once looking at it closely, it really mystifies me. The logo symbolises a stylished compass, pointing with the red triangle to the upper left corner of the circle - geographically expressed - indicating Northwest - according to the airline's name. But if you take a look at all the nwa birds' right fuselages you will find the compass pointing towards Northeast! Mirror-inverted. Check out nwas' old livery - there was no mirror image! So why had this been changed?
