Is lifting gracefully from runway 34 for Detroit as NW72. The current runway has only 2740m (9000 feet) long - probably the shortest runway for Northwest’s Boeing 747 to head for the US continent in a regular basis (6525 miles). Thus, due to the short runway and close by the perimeter road, Nagoya is one of such an airport that many heavies take off right in font of you. One of the NW pilots told me "Yeah, it is a REAL fun. It is almost like taking off/landing onto an aircraft carrier without a catapult!"
