Taken at 2200 feet above sea level whilst conducting a city orbit on Remembrance Day, you can see the great city of Melbourne lit up beautifully on quite a clear night. [Canon 5D mkII + EF24-105 taken at 24mm, f/4, 1/10, 6400iso]

Alex, can't find words for this photo. Melbourne is beautiful from the ground, yet even more so from above. Might I ask who was steering the plane... :) Hope to catch up with you one day for another spotting trip at Tullamarine. Cheers, Jonathan Mackojc

This exposure is absolutely amazing -- the contrast of the city lights with the unlit geography of the city is awesome. the level of detail the shot is totally impressive.

You cannot imagine the joy I felt when I realised this was my town.

The photo does it more than justice, even giving the folks over at SkyScraperCity.com a run for their money!

Awesome photo. Show the city and environs beautifully, and so sharp for a night shot in an aircraft. Excellent.
