Remark Photographer
D-FGOJ (cn 139) Straight from a Hollywood movie. A German hijacked the aircraft, after pretending to be a photographer shooting parachute jumps from inside the airplane. The aircraft took off from LPEV (Évora) with 3 parachuters, and right after, the hijacker diverted the aircraft using a pistol to LPCS (Tires). When the aircraft was landing at Tires, the parachuters jumped at very low altitude (not known if they were forced)... The aircraft landed with the engine shut down and skidded into a ditch, breaking the left wing and leaving again to the grass breaking the landing gear. The pilot managed to flee unhurt and the hijacker committed suicide (he's almost underneath the left wing).

The two parachutists were unhurt. The pilot saw then trying to exit, and rose to about 200 meters AGL before they jumped and immediately pulled their reserves. Source: "Svensk Fallskärmssport" (Swedish parachutist magazine)

I work at Pacific Aerospace, and remember this aircraft coming off the line (S/N XL139) just under 2 years ago, its a real shame to see one of our planes in this state, glad everyone was ok!

That sounds like a story from a bad action movie. Really strange. But the photo is close to the action. Thanks for sharing.

More information about this accident:

Few moments away from landing at Tires, the pilot managed to take the weapon away from the hijacker, but he went for the controls and tried to crash the aircraft. That's when the parachuters jumped. The aircraft landed with a struggle between the pilot and the terrorist underway, that's why it crash landed.
