C-FUAZ (cn 1077) First stop on today's central coast sked: a grizzly bear viewing lodge at the head of Smith Inlet, in the heart of the great bear rainforest. This is the normal attitude for docking a Goose on the water.

This is a normal position and no, there is no one on the wing. That's a part of the engine. Take a look at other pictures of this plane and you will notice it on both engines.

They probably park like that to taxi with the low engine alone.

Interesting comments from aviation buffs. It's at the head of an inlet; much debris floating downriver. The Goose has 'sponsons' outboard on each wing. Land with them extended, retract one or the other when heading for the dock. It's how you get in and out of the aircraft. It's a flying boat people.

Looks like it has capsized...

What about the right wing-float? shouldn't be down?

My first impression was; is this a crash? nice picture, great scenery

You guys need to open your eyes. There's a guy standing on the wing, look behind the RH engine.

Good job. What happened?

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri May 20, 2011:
Is that a normal position for that crate to be in? Looks like a dropped water level. Maybe park it a bit further from the dock next time.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri May 20, 2011:
Excuse my ignorance, but is that supposed to be like that?

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri May 20, 2011:
I wonder if this is the normal way to park a Goose...

Great shot of an increasingly rare aircraft. I hope to get back to this part of BC to fly with PCA on a goose before they are completely gone. On a side note it looks like tide is going out, might need to slack those lines!
