There's a concorde left there

Brilliant observation from the comment before mine. Indeed it is so polarising how the cars look so outdated but the aircraft still have a modern look to them.
Kind of reminds of me pictures of people in suits holding old technology in magazine from the 80s. The fashion looks timeless, but the technology archaic!

This picture is anachronic. The cars have changed so much but the 747 looks almost the same as today's Intercontinental.

Just became viewer No. 79,747 of this photo ;-). What a pleastant symbolic surprise. The entire weight of spirit and philosophy behind of the 747 program, the odds overcome and it's enduring legacy puts this plane in a perfectlty unique platform, unmatchable now and long after production will end eventually someday. At the end of the day, it's beyond sales figures and all other awards and achievements as well as what engineering you can learn at MIT or the Harvard Business School. It is simply put, the Widebody of widebodies.

What a fantastic photo! This has American icon written all over it.Pan Am during better times. If I'm not mistaken, one of these three aircraft is Clipper Victor.I have a first flight cover which was once part of the cargo on her maiden revenue flight, stamped January 22nd, 1970.Proud to own such a great piece of history!

Looks like a Concorde is behind the left 747

Note the windows, very close to the nose

Reminds me of Gulliveare who was entered with ladders and stairs to tie him down and immobilize him.
phantastic picture of times long gone but well remembered

Notice the mechanic in the foreground pulling his "dog box" behind him. Still the same, nothings changed about that. This has got to be a rare photo of the aircraft with the test probe on it.

This is one of the most felicifc shots of PAA's B747's out there. Pan Am is and always will be a legend in our hearts.

The cars changed but not the aircraft

This is history in progress !

A visitor from United States posted Mon March 24, 2008:
The test probe on the aircraft to the left looks like Pinocchio's nose. Definitely awesome shot.

A visitor from United States posted Wed December 20, 2006:
The middle one appears to be Jet Clipper America, N747PA, probably my most admired 747. Boy, she looked beautiful back then; now, her fuselage is (I believe) a diner in Asia...
