A visitor from - posted Sat February 25, 2012:This shot really shows the difference in fuselage length between the SP and later extended (especially the new freighter) versions. Would love to see them side by side. The SP looks kind of silly in comparison.
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Tue November 29, 2011:All of us lost PAN AM very much.
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Tue November 29, 2011:What a high quality scan this is!. Its also an excellent photograph generally, and that particular aircraft "Clipper Young America" makes it even more special.
A visitor from United States posted Tue November 29, 2011:Anyone else notice the 50 year sticker above the main door?
A visitor from United States posted Wed October 12, 2011:The airline that revolutionized air travel like no other! Miss you Pan Am, hope you'll make a comeback one day.
A visitor from France posted Wed October 12, 2011:Superb nostalgic shot!!
A visitor from - posted Mon August 29, 2011:LOT of differences between the SPs and other 74s. Flap track fairings and many more that the eye doesn't see. I wonder if this was the aircraft that United set a round the world speed record with in '89 or '90 I believe. I think they were surpassed during the same week by a Gulfstream G-IV. The 747 beats the Concorde around the world.
A visitor from United States posted Sat August 6, 2011:Brings back memories of flights from JFK to Jo'burg via Ilha da Sal. These planes look so powerful, even today.

A visitor from - posted Fri February 4, 2011:Boeing should do this with their 747-8
A visitor from United States posted Wed December 22, 2010:They should had make the Airforce 1 out of this baby, then it would be truly one of a kind. 747-400 boring.
A visitor from Chile posted Tue November 9, 2010:As with the whole 747-Program it wouldn't be for the 747SP without Pan Am due to the fact that it was developed upon a request by Pan Am (later also supported by Iran Air). Great shot by the way!
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Tue November 9, 2010:Had never known that PANAM had sp.
A visitor from United States posted Wed May 26, 2010:This picture is beautiful and sad. Somehow, losing Pan Am makes the airline industry seem less whole. I compare it to the US after President Kennedy was lost. The industry was better with her than without her. A loyal AAer
