Caption
A nostalgic scene at Rio with VARIG Caravelle PP-VJC to the right (see photo 336731)and another Panair do Brasil aircraft DC-8 PP-PDS behind that. Two further Caravelles are present on the left, but these belong to a third operator, Cruzeiro do Sul. Also on the tarmac are a VARIG Super Connie, a Gulfstream 1 and three Fairchild Packets. The Caravelle itself was lost in 1973 whilst with Cruzeiro.

Brazilian aviation at its best. Panair was then Brazil's most iconic carrier. It was violently shutdown by the military dictatorship shortly after this photo was taken.
