A most interestng aircraft! I've heard of it, but this is the first photo I've seen. I do have to say however - the watermark detracts from the overcall qaulity and could have been left off the photo...

Great catch! Nice lighting too. From looking at this aircraft there's not really too many places to put that single 'mini' fan and still make it easy to work on. On that note however, having the engine where it is only makes me wonder if it's as much of a PITA to work on as the DC-10's #2 was. Then again, where else would you put that engine?

Have seen prettier aircraft in my life, but many Piper Chayennes with the main airstairdoor not fitting closely as it apears here again.

I know these "microjets" are all the rage these days, but every time I see one of these, I want to ask, "Where's the rest of the airplane?"

This must be a MMD-11

I really think is a good aircraft, but not that sure with its wing desing, it could be waaay better...!

Great photo, but hideous airplane. This looks like something out of a children's coloring book.

That engine puts a LOT of weight above the center of gravity. Could be a roll-over problem during bouncing landings. Sorry I forgot, nobody is ever going to bounce one of these in.

Does anyone else look at this airplane and wonder, "Where's the rest of it?"

I think the engine position and designation could be more cute.

Square shaped windows didn't look great at this aircraft.

Nice one! Is it still doing test flights? I saw it a lot in 2009 in KVRB. Hope its on the final track!

I've heard about this Piper before, but this is the first photo I've seen. A rather odd looking design. I'd be curious what the minimum landing and take-off distances are...

As of Oct 26th 2011, piper pulled the plug on the jet program. this jet will be in the scrap pile soon. piper as a company will probably meet the same fate soon too.

Look how large the horizontal stabilizer is. Also, the rudder sits up even higher than it has to, causing induced roll. Is that the the correct way to say it? So either this aircraft is a handful to fly or it has fly by wire. Beautiful bird and a great effort. A+ for originality.

Sorry to hear Piper pulled the plug on this absolutely beautiful aircraft. Hopefully the prototypes will at least be visible at airshows. And not to mention that the photograph is fantastic as well! Many thanks for posting. Marc.

Strange-looking aircraft, but I like it. T.B.

Nice photo, fills the frame nicely.

Interesting that the engineers did not choose an "S-duct" for the engine, like the ones used on 727s and L-1011s.

Interesting aircraft and story behind it. I also noticed the large horizontal tail plane. Would it be to compensate for the engine being above CoG when thrust is applied?

Is that the highest altitude this aircraft could fly at?

It's easy to imagine what will happen to this aircraft when THE engine fails in flight

The engine location makes it too top heavy and also in a stall situation the fuselage could disrupt airflow to the inlet. But I'd be most worried about the engine making the design too top heavy. They could have sold this aircraft with the single engine mounted level with the fuselage using an S duct....for the right price.

It's always funny to see the amateur AeroEngs on here second guessing an established aircraft manufacturer because a design doesn't "look" right. Scaled composites should have broken that habit years ago.

To the visitor from Canada, I think we can easily see the benefits to the powerplant location. More cabin room. Improved aerodynamics. Possibly a quieter cabin with regard to engine noise. But all said and done this design may have been a "Piper dream." (sorry)

I'm not sure why people it's an plane. It's absolutely beautiful with free-flowing design. My favorite of all times is the Lockheed Constellation. Now that is s sharp design! RT3
