F-WWOW (cn 001) No Brakes!...only on this wheel in picture. I brought you this angle of the 777 Worldliner under carriage now I present you with the Airbus 380 gears. Note the flat under belly of this huge a/c. Amazing feeling standing next to this massive machine

It looks like the last axle has some kind of steering system! Nice shot

Great photo of this massive gear.

A visitor from Canada posted Thu April 19, 2007:
I Love this shot since you can clearly see all the detail and hard work that went into designing the gear.

A visitor from Brazil posted Fri December 2, 2005:
There is something very curious about the A380 undercarriage. The central ones retract vertically, not laterally as usual. Must have a quite powerful and complex system. Thanks for this nice view!!

A visitor from Mexico posted Mon November 28, 2005:
In the right tire there´s a white spot. I think it´s the mark when this big baby touched down and got burned. Nice sight and yes, no brakes.

A visitor from Greece posted Mon November 28, 2005:
So, how do you change the tires on this thing?

A visitor from Canada posted Mon November 28, 2005:
Awesome close up

A visitor from Netherlands posted Sun November 27, 2005:
Now that's HUGE.

Very nice one!

A visitor from Germany posted Sun November 27, 2005:
I always wondered why the gears need no protection shield to save all this cables ...

It's a shame that this complex mechanism is always unvisible for passengers ...

A visitor from Netherlands posted Sun November 27, 2005:
WOW those are the biggist wheels I every has seen!

A visitor from Netherlands posted Sun November 27, 2005:
Great shot! No breaks on the first pair of wheels you see in the shot, wondering how many wheels does have breaks.

A visitor from Germany posted Sun November 27, 2005:
I'd like to see a man standing next to the tires as a comparison...
great pic btw

A visitor from Germany posted Sun November 27, 2005:
These gears are so outsized. Fantastic to see it with all details!

A visitor from Philippines posted Sun November 27, 2005:
I'm not used in noticing the landing gear assembly, but hey! it's more than just a wheel to roll the aircraft on the ground. I mean look at it, all the effort in designing such wheel to attach in a big beast like the A380 makes me wonder what those parts are for? since all I think that the other mechanism that a gear does aside from rolling is breaking..

A visitor from India posted Sun November 27, 2005:
That is a wonderful photo. This brings out the creativity of man.

A visitor from United States posted Sun November 27, 2005:
Good Perspective! One glaring omission I see is the absence of brake assemblies. This is an awfully big beast and I'm sure it needs all the help it can to stop!

A visitor from Singapore posted Sun November 27, 2005:
Very clean and shining landing gear.

A visitor from United States posted Sun November 27, 2005:
Wow! That's a cool shot! Very heavy duty machinery you have there!

A visitor from United States posted Sun November 27, 2005:
It's amazing what we are capable of building, when we work together!

A visitor from Portugal posted Sun November 27, 2005:
Great photo!
Love this kind of photos (not the everyday photo), and it's great to compare it with the 777 landing wheels.

A visitor from Greece posted Sun November 27, 2005:
Amazing, i am stunned!

A visitor from Portugal posted Sat November 26, 2005:
I's like "they" say...take off is facultative but landing isn't...

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sat November 26, 2005:
The photo shows the amount of precision workmanship that has gone into the mechanism. Something that sits in the wheel bay during the flight and very few passengers ever think about - although it's pretty important at touchdown !
