No Brakes!...only on this wheel in picture. I brought you this angle of the 777 Worldliner under carriage now I present you with the Airbus 380 gears. Note the flat under belly of this huge a/c. Amazing feeling standing next to this massive machine

The photo shows the amount of precision workmanship that has gone into the mechanism. Something that sits in the wheel bay during the flight and very few passengers ever think about - although it's pretty important at touchdown !

I's like "they" say...take off is facultative but landing isn't...

Great photo!
Love this kind of photos (not the everyday photo), and it's great to compare it with the 777 landing wheels.

It's amazing what we are capable of building, when we work together!

Very clean and shining landing gear.

Good Perspective! One glaring omission I see is the absence of brake assemblies. This is an awfully big beast and I'm sure it needs all the help it can to stop!

That is a wonderful photo. This brings out the creativity of man.

I'm not used in noticing the landing gear assembly, but hey! it's more than just a wheel to roll the aircraft on the ground. I mean look at it, all the effort in designing such wheel to attach in a big beast like the A380 makes me wonder what those parts are for? since all I think that the other mechanism that a gear does aside from rolling is breaking..

Great shot! No breaks on the first pair of wheels you see in the shot, wondering how many wheels does have breaks.

I always wondered why the gears need no protection shield to save all this cables ...

It's a shame that this complex mechanism is always unvisible for passengers ...

So, how do you change the tires on this thing?

In the right tire there´s a white spot. I think it´s the mark when this big baby touched down and got burned. Nice sight and yes, no brakes.

There is something very curious about the A380 undercarriage. The central ones retract vertically, not laterally as usual. Must have a quite powerful and complex system. Thanks for this nice view!!

I Love this shot since you can clearly see all the detail and hard work that went into designing the gear.
