Catching her is the highlight of any aviation enthuasist, especially in a close distance. With her passing over me, I can still smell the gasoline from her exhaust, what a real airplane! [Nikon D2x]

Simply beautiful. Must have been noisy like hell, I can almost hear it screeching from here in Montreal! Always nice to see some of these classic in such a great shape.

That's a clean airplane. I don't think you were smelling gasoline, however.

"a great aircraft, for a great aircraft experience"...indeed it must have been very noisy...kinda funny, I live in Noisy-le-Grand, home of the winners, the Springboks, during 2007 Rugby World Cup!!!

Brilliant plane. Not very efficient engines though. But what the heck. By the wa. Why doesn't the #1 engine doesn't have a 'backbone' like the rest of the engines have..

With this diffused lighting, the image appears to have been shot in the early 1970s, but with 21st century digital clarity. Exciting!

Just like watching it lift off the runway back in the 1970s.

Beautiful plane! To answer the poster's question regarding the #1 engine lacking a "backbone": The boeing's 707 engines could not provide sufficient bleed air for pressurizing the cabin without serious loss of thrust, so the aircraft instead used engine-driven turbocompressors to supply high-pressure air for this purpose. The outer #1 port engine was the only one not fitted with a turbocompressor and thus it looked distinctly different from the other three. LM, Memphis,TN

A aviation pioneer still gracing the blue skyes.I was lucky enough to experience a 707 taking off almost overhead , and I can attest to the thunderous sound.Kudos to Mr. Chui for this great picture !

Hi Sam,
if you indeed smelled gasoline exhaust, the airplane wouldn't be flying any more.
Filling avgas into the tanks of a 707 would ruin the engines at start up.
