The delivery of the first A380 to Qantas was celebrated with a spectacular play of lights that painted the aircarft with a thousand colors.

And for a moment I thought it was painted a la Wunala! So far this is probably the only livery that makes an A380 look good in my eyes.

Fully agree - A380 is one of a hell ugly aircraft. But this game of lights makes it looking good. Nice shot.

A livery like this would push back the delivery date substantially I imagine:). Looks very nice though and Qantas has been known for the odd exotic paintjob..

The guys who spent so much time slightly stylizing the livery should take note of how purteh this bird looks under those lights :P...

The "ugly" bird has something of a turtle with lipstick.

Haha. I love this picture.
Thanks for capturing this great moment. A new page of history for QANTAS!
I originally thought this was a new livery on the thumbnail. XD

And NOW I'm very glad to know this aircraft is WHITE :) By the way, A380 looks small in the photo!

They should paint all Qantas A380s with these colours and shapes. Would be great to see it like that all the time!

The hypen in the name is wrongly placed, isn't it?
Nice photo anyway :)

I work for the mfg of the lighting used on this A380. Never thought I'd see our stuff in an Airliners.net photo. Excellent!

For a second i thought this was the worst looking special livery there is, i did think about the peter max for a second but fortunately those are only the moving heads lights.

WOW for a minute I thought Qantas had gone completely mad (well, madder than usual) and dreamt up yet another bizarre paint job!

Keep up the flash work, Aussies!

Nice effect of the colors on the A380, but they somewhat ruin the appearance of the Qantas logo on the tail. Still, a great night shot!

Nice to see this bird when she was still in excellent condition...Named after the founder of Australian Women Pilot's Association, Nancy Bird Walton. Sadly, this aircraft was damaged as Flight 32 on November 4, 2010 when her #2 RR engine suffered an uncontained engine failure. Kudos to the great crew for bringing her and everybody back safely, considering the damage the aircraft sustained. Aircraft still under repair and will be back in the air by next year:)Thanks for this photo!!!

Beautiful, soft lighting. Great angle Luis. BTW, athe hyphen IS in the right place. Mr. Walton nicknamed "Nancy Bird" as Nancy-Bird per Wikipedia essay about her. She attended the reception of VH-OQA. Delighted that QANTAS and Airbus and Rolls-Royce got her airborne again.
