The DH-61 began service with QANTAS on the Brisbane-Charleville run in 1929. It marked the beginning of two things in Australian aviation; the introduction of post-war commercial aircraft to Australia, and for the first time passengers no longer had to wear goggles and a helmet! Prime Minister of the time Stanley Melbourne Bruce made parliamentry histroy by becoming the first Prime Minister to use air travel for an offical journey.
