Ironically, wheras the narrow elliptical wing-tips of the Hornet Moth were clipped in a later version to cure a dangerous tip-stall at low speeds, the Dragon started with clipped wings and was developed into the Rapide which had high-aspect-ratio elliptical tips – and the Rapide was the more successful. After seventy or so years, Dragons are very rare indeed. Rendcomb-based Norman Aeroplane Trust’s example is seen here displaying at the Mission Aviation Fellowship charity fly-in at Croft Farm.
