N5552 (cn 13FK13) Homebuilt KR1 'Seagull' aircraft, designed by Ken Rand. When Ken debuted this design at Oshkosh in 1972, he displayed the first aircraft with significant composite content - all but the main box fuselage and wing spar were constructed using sculpted foam, layered with epoxied Dynel cloth. Incredibly small and light, it inspired many successful aircraft for decades to come. Now preserved in the 'Museum of Alaska Transportation & Industry' near Wasilla, AK.
