4 The Yak-3 was one of the smallest and lightest fighters of World War II. With its incredible power/weight ratio it was formidable in a dog-fight. Almost 5,000 were built during the War, powered by Soviet Klimov engines. In the 1990s the Yakovlev factory built a few more examples, powered by Allison engines, for the American warbird market. Preserved in the Musï¿½e de l'Air et de l'Espace.
