Note: it's the final part of the KOLOKOL - "Su" moves vertically then slow engine, stops and, after few seconds falls backward down until the photo was taken at the photo's moment.
When i saw it in 2007 first time a really thought the huge trouble was happened...

One interesting detail caught my eye - it seems that the Russinas started to paint a fake canopy on the underside of the fuselage, like Canadians used to do on the F18s... great shot anyway

By my thoughts, what makes this picture great are the flares not being imbedded in the smoke but rather, are visible outside the smoke. If the flares were imbedded in the smoke, you wouldn't see much else other than the smoke.
