WOW did you know this plane can go faster than a Lockheed Tristar!

I dont wanna be here when those bay doors open.

I can hear the props from here! Great shot of a historic airplane.

Russian metal rocks!

A visitor from Canada posted Sun December 17, 2006:
To those who arent acquainted, this unique aircraft is an amazing piece of engineering..it is one of, if not the fastest prop aircraft to date, with rumours that it could out-accelerate jet fighters like SEPCAT Jaguar..its top speed came close to many subsonic jet aircraft. Of course it also had its fair share of probs like the immense amount of noise it created. The "wierdness" of this aircraft is really a showcase of Russian engineering ingenuity and originality!!

the prop A340!

A visitor from Switzerland posted Fri November 10, 2006:
What a contrast to the 'good old days' when photos of Russian aircraft were all blurred and grainy, presumably taken by James Bond with a dodgy Brownie camera ...

A visitor from Netherlands posted Sun November 5, 2006:
Great shot in which you can clearly see the slim lines of this aircraft. Weird aircraft : no. Different : yes. That is shown very well in this picture.

A visitor from Switzerland posted Tue July 25, 2006:
So beautifull picture of a very interessant point of view of this impressive aircraft

A visitor from Norway posted Tue July 18, 2006:
Great shot of a rare aircraft.

A visitor from United States posted Sat July 1, 2006:
I live in New Jersey, and seeing pictures of NJ Air National Guard Escorting F-106's escorting these things just a few miles off our coast while they were going down to Cuba years ago is a scary thought.

A visitor from United States posted Fri June 30, 2006:
Great photo! it really shows off the shape of the aircraft... Also, those protrusions behind the wing are not just gear bays, they are also anti-shock bodies.

A visitor from Mexico posted Wed June 28, 2006:
So pretty I can almost hear it. T.B.

A visitor from Brazil posted Fri June 9, 2006:
"The soviets made the weidest looking planes ever!" Where did they get such crazy ideas??? Isn't one propeller enough?

A visitor from Sweden posted Mon June 5, 2006:
Nice shot, youcan clerly see the dual blades there.
To the American that said "The Soviets made the weirdest looking planes in the world." The B-52 looks werry alike

A visitor from United States posted Mon June 5, 2006:
I love those dual counter-rotating props there.

Yeah! This one is great. I never got the chance to see this heavy metal - never here in Brazil. Russians plans are so diferent, but also beatiful.

A visitor from United States posted Tue May 9, 2006:
Beautiful shot of an incredible plane. Bet the very concrete shook when you took that.

A visitor from India posted Sun February 19, 2006:
A very different design the fuselage is unusually thin .. i have had the oppurtunity to see these type of aircraft in madras during the 90s ..probably those with the indian navy which uses them for maritime reconnaissance..gbala

A visitor from Czech Republic posted Thu February 2, 2006:
These are housings of main gear, which are really tall

A visitor from Sweden posted Wed February 1, 2006:

The thing behind engine 2 and 3 are the landing gears.

A visitor from France posted Wed February 1, 2006:
Very nice plane but could some one tell me what those things sticking out behind the inside engines are???

A visitor from France posted Tue January 31, 2006:
