I remember being down at Rockaway (Breezy Point) in Oct 1960 when I heard the most god-awful noise! Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev was coming in a TU-114 (the civil variant of the 95) to address the UN. The engines were screaming. I thought it was the most beautiful plane I had ever seen until I watched (and heard!) the Concorde take off from JFK
View, light, I like this ... and the plane :)
The aircraft with the most controversies when it flies. great! 5/5
Nice photo of the big bad bear
I think I'm gonna move to Norway. I would like to see bears flying over weekly, and hear them!!!
Crisp and clear shot! These intercontinental nuclear bombers are flying down our coastline almost weekly now, escorted by MIG-29s and SU-27s. -Norway
... wooow... this plane looks slightly like a flamingo, very high on his landgear but incredibly elegant in flight. I've heard that it is the faster plane ever made with propeller...
Awesome plane - a classic! Very crisp picture too!
It's looks so dangerous
I think the Tu-95 is like the logical continuation of WWII heavy bombers. If I'm not wrong, the design is, in some way, based in the B-29, although stretched and adapted to Soviet technology in the 50s. Hence why this bird looks so superlative.
Ah the good old Bear...why pay for a vibra-bed, when you could join the Red Air Force and get a vibra plane for free?!
The grand dame of soviet era intercontinental bombers. supposedly the guys flying in fighters next to them could feel the tremendous vibration of the contrarotating turboprops.
It's a weird machine! Does it still fly? I didn't understand this kind of engine, as well... Why does it have two propellers in each engine?
This is heavy long-range soviet bomber with characteristics same to early B-52. One of the most high-speed turboprops ever built!
A solid and vibrant pic ,gives a feeling of size and dynamic strength
Tupolev´s great piece. Those contraprops rule! T.B.
One of the strangest-looking planes I've ever seen in airliners!
If you could get a 4x4 aircraft, this would be it!!! Check out the size of undercarriage compared to the rest of the plane! Great photo.
What a gangly and strange looking airplane! Still, it somehow manages to look sleek and powerful--an ugly duckling in the process of metamorphosing into a glorious swan might give a similar impression.
The rarity of the shot makes it excellent. How many Tu95's do you see floating around now? How many huge turboprop aircraft - military or civil, do you get to wander around? Does it not make you want to get up close and personal with a set of spanners and screwdrivers?
I'm always impressed by the speed of this propeller-driven bird. A very intriguing airplane with those huge counter-rotating props.
Hughes-esque hope it doesnt take out some beverly hills houses!
Wow those russians and there ugly planes. even tupoluves are ugly
Looks like a plastic toy! Very nice though
Lol can it even fly ? :p | |
That's an odd looking bird.
HAHA, what a ridicolus plane
Nothing beats Russian hardware!
Llllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllll nice plane
