Oh my god, that looks so surreal. Awesome timing and subject! Congratulations

This looks like a coloring book plane. It doesn't seem to have the refinements you read about in developing the Mach 2 aircraft....such as the coke bottle shape and so forth.

Wow this picture is complete. The aircraft, the sunrays, the shadows, the clouds. Very nice.

This is aviation art that is like a painting that would grace any wall or exhibition.

You know what amazes me when I see these pics of Russian military hardware? That aviation transcends politics. I see every few days on CNN, "Russian bombers intercepted, new Cold War?!?!," and it just sounds so rediculous to me. We all love airplanes so much, and it just seems so weird to consider the guy who took this picture or that lucky pilot an 'enemy' of any kind. If only airliners.net was around in the 50's and 60's! :). I just see a perfect sky, and a beautiful machine slicing through the air. Amazing shot!

Lovely photo indeed!! What is the purpose of that pop-up above the 2nd operator position?? I thought perhaps it covers a refueling door, but I see the refueling probe is on the left side of the nose.

To the one who said the MiG-31 is a "coloring book plane": if you look from another angles, especially from above, you will notice that it applies the area rule. And it is the fastest aircraft in service nowadays (M 2.8).
To the Canadian commentator: it is a mirror. The WSO has no forward visibility at all, but with it he can see ahead. It is mostly used during take off and landing, but it seems that he helps the pilot also during inflight refueling.
