Remark Photographer
EI-DHD (cn 33816/1657) Having successfully landed in bitterly cold conditions, this aircraft was supposed to taxi along the taxiway to the right of the picture where all the vehicles are now parked. Unfortunately, it hit an ice patch and carried on across the grass. Thankfully no reports of any injuries and apparently very little damage to the aircraft. Efforts to recover the aircraft are well under way here.

Er... this week temperatures were from -20ºC to -25ºC in some places, even less in the UK.
Moreover, the wind, the sea or the humidity can make you feel, for instance, ten or twenty degrees colder.

The point of my comment is that the UK definition (or in fact most of Europe's definition) of 'bitterly cold' vs. most of Canada's definition of bitterly cold are two completely different concepts. -1C in Montreal at this time of year is a heat wave.

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu December 24, 2009:
Wow, 'balmy' -4 degrees? Good for you ..

It was bitterly cold in Glasgow last Wednesday so what's your comment about?

Nice shot Stuart, lots of details! Merry Christmas =)

That's really interesting to see grass around the runways and snow on the hills. Bitterly cold eh, LOL! What was it about -1C out? I'm writing from Montreal where it's a 'balmy' -4C outside today.
