CS-TKN (cn 624) This month of November had been really good for us spotters, with so many different things coming by!! Not being a different A/C, this one deserved some attention... These pilots were caught in some wind shear, and it was really close to total disaster, since the wing almost touched the ground! You can also see the stress in main landing gear... At that time, there were gusts up to 44 knots of crosswind, and heavy turbulence was reported! I'm glad that everything ended up well.. [Canon 40D + Sigma 120-400

I don't understand the comments that are complementing the crew for "superior piloting" or "earning their pay". This is a botched landing and is a sign of reckless flying, not skill.

A visitor from Australia posted Mon December 7, 2009:

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sun November 29, 2009:
Great shot, makes me wonder how it looked when I arrived in EIN almost four years ago. That day the wind was so heavy that there was no public transport anymore all throughout Holland and I had to wait until after midnight for someone to come and pick me up at the airport. The landing at that time felt quite wild, but it was already dark, and I have not seen how it went, but if I see this, that's maybe for the better.

A visitor from United States posted Sun November 29, 2009:
Beautiful capture! I love the detail in the photo - I only wish that the resolution would be greater so that I could get a better look at the pilots. The only thing better than this photo would likely be the expression on their faces! Brilliant capture - 5 stars.

A visitor from Portugal posted Sun November 29, 2009:

A visitor from United States posted Sun November 29, 2009:
I've been through Lajes a bunch. The winds there are nothing to mess with. This is such a well timed capture. I looked up into the cockpit expecting to see the whites of the pilots huge eyes!

A visitor from United States posted Sun November 29, 2009:
Lucky pilots and pax. Had the gust gone a few knots stronger, perhaps the outcome of this shot would be very different.

A visitor from Netherlands posted Sun November 29, 2009:
It seems these people are inches away from a crash. The wing is inches off the ground and the angle probably can't be any more acute without things going awry.

A visitor from Australia posted Sun November 29, 2009:
That nose couldn't be more off centre, must've been a huge x-wind...

A visitor from United States posted Sat November 28, 2009:
Kudos to Airbus, the gear was able to withstand such force upon landing, I doubt it was even possible for them to simulate this scenario during certification, yet the plane landed and stopped safely.

I'm kind of sad to think that there are people who actually think that this picture was "photoshoped". Well, let me say that it WASN'T! This actually did happened, and I'm sorry that some of you are too jealous of someone else's work ;)
This was taken at F/9, 1/500" and 400mm! The only reason I find to explain the lack of the rudder and other parts is that they where caught in surprise, and at the time of the shoot, they didn't even had the time to correct it....
If you still don't believe me, send me an e-mail and I'll show you the sequence :)
