9V-SMD (cn 24064/755) The pilot was trying hard to level the plane for final approach Rwy 13. You can see that from the uplifted aileron.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sat June 3, 2006:
Fantastic shot, really shows off the scary the Kai Tak approach...pity they closed, as know i wont be able to experience that approach :(

A visitor from Hong Kong posted Mon May 29, 2006:
Very classical scenery in Hong Kong. Kai Tak was a very good airport due to its quality and safety (one of the airports with the lowest accident rates). I miss Kai Tak very much. I really do not understand why the government cannot keep two airports (Kai Tak and New airport) here...

A visitor from United States posted Thu May 11, 2006:
It looks like a toy

A visitor from Australia posted Thu April 20, 2006:
It's easy to see why they had to close down Kai Tak first of all you have mountains and high rise flats everywhere and then you number the runway No.13! scary...

A visitor from United States posted Thu April 20, 2006:
The pilot has almost completed the 47 degree turn and and trying to level off for sure,Five Stars of course for this kind of shot. By the way where was it so far??????

A visitor from Mexico posted Wed April 19, 2006:
Those were the days at Kai Tak. T.B.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Wed April 19, 2006:
Good quality, for an old shot. Nice!

A visitor from Oman posted Wed April 19, 2006:
Fantastic shot, at a great timing.

however to add to the discussion, it doesn't seem the pilot was really struggling or trying too hard. The spoilerons are not deflecting yet.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Wed April 19, 2006:
Shame these sorts of shots dont come very often!!!!

A visitor from New Zealand posted Wed April 19, 2006:
Good shot, very very hard to do indeed! the pilot will be using every muscle to correct that bank, and get the 744 level wings for runway 13, very hard approach to carry out!

A visitor from Hong Kong posted Wed April 19, 2006:
I miss Kai Tak so much! Thanks for sharing!

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Wed April 19, 2006:
