Amazing picture. Somehow I doubt it's mars because theres no atmosphere on mars so there can't be clouds. Looks like it though.

Not only does this photo depict the true majesty that is Australia, but it does tremendous service to the beautiful B-777 and its GE90 engine. Thank you for posting this picture! One of THE all-time bests to hit airliners.net.

It's pictures like this that really show the unique and magical oppurtunity that pilot's, crew, and people get to experience when aboard a magnificient transport aircraft like the B777. Out of the several times I've traversed the skies of Africa and deserts, I am always in total "awe" every time I'm up there ever so high. Of course, the cockpit view just glorifies it even more!
I admire you're truly great work.

Signed,

A B747-443 First Officer

Seeing all the comments about mars makes me think.... In some decades that might just be a reality! Just think about the state of air travel 75 years ago...

At first I thought it was a photo of the dust storm that passed over the east coast of Australia in September 09 but it is the source of that dust storm the red centre. such a simple photo yet so effective. Another poster commented it could not be Mars as mars does not have an atmosphere. Mars does have an atmosphere and clouds. Beautiful colours and shapes.

The curve in the photo is not the curve of the earth, it is the lense that causes this effect. the earth would be very small if that was the curve.

Anyhow very nice photo, not sure what i am looking at.

Man, I knew the 77W's range was pretty impressive, but I didn't know it could go all the way to Mars!
