This AN-2 burst into flames during engine test. Unfortunately the right side bottom wing burned out fully.

This is a sad day. An-2's are some of the most beautiful machines on earth. I hope she earns a full recovery soon.

Excellent on-the-spot coverage with outstanding photography to match. I sure feel for the old guy though. You can just sense his great frustration.

Never, EVER conduct an engine test (or start, for that matter) without a really big CO2 fire extinguisher standing-by, that is for sure.

This picture is very good, yet very depressing. That poor man. That poor plane. Before I clicked on the picture I too thought that it was just a fule rich start-up... I wish it was just that.

I really feel sorry for the guy. I hope the plane flies again soon. The lower wings are just fabric right?

Should have a fire extinguisher at his side. What was the final result?

It is sad they didn't have a fire extinguisher close to the plane! After 60-90 seconds of burning they were able to extinguish fire, but the right bottom wing burned out complete. Hope to see Her fly again! - I was a witness -

I feel more bad for the person than the plane due to the fact he is dangerously close to the fire.
