Fitted with a Mercedes-Benz 1.7 litre turbocharged liquid-cooled diesel engine, as fitted to their A-class cars. Re-engineered by Thielert in Germany, the engines actually operate on the same Jet A1 kerosene used by jet airlines, rather than the Avgas petrol traditionally used by light aircraft. Not only is A1 less expensive than Avgas, but the diesel delivers about 30% improvement in fuel economy - hence the registration!
