This accident is the only fatality in the history of Southwest Airlines. At this time only one other accident has happened to a Southwest plane when Flight 1455 overran the runway in Burbank. Compare the number of accidents Southwest has to other airlines. This aircraft has been repaired and the tail number is now N286WN.
Sorry to the family for there loss. The aircraft was fixed up and put back into servies. The repair was like 7 million but worth the cause
I wonder how they got it out.....
Look at the little sign above the plane says "Car Smart"
You don't see southwest crash very much.
Do not blame the pilots! blame mother nature and the midway airport authorities for staying operational. stupid and costly decision.
I have given this photo a single star as someone died in this inciednt which should never have happened the airport should have been shut all flights diverted and the pilots should have seen the snow on the runway THERE WAS SUPOSEDLY 7 INCHES ON THE RUNWAY shame on the pilots shame on the air traffic controler.
It's tragic to know that a little boy lost his life in this incident. However there is no reason for a lawsuit against the pilots, southwest, Chicago, southwest or boeing.
While accident photos may be popular, this is in total bad taste. Also, there is so much extra stuff in the way that it should not have been accepted. Oh- the aircraft is a write-off now..
God bless the family of the little boy..., as for the shot, it seems to unreal to be true. = (
A sad photo, indeed. My best wishes go to the little boy and his family, may God bless them.
I flew on this bird the second day they got her.I work for jetblue, had to travel standby on here.It was nice,so sad to see her like this.
Look at the right corner, there you can read a yellow sign that say "caution driveway", now I think they must change it for "caution runway". GOD may bless that kid & his family
Excellent shot, but sad situation...
Amazing it is still in one piece, I feel for the family who lost there child at this time of the year. This is the second time this has happened to Southwest isn't it?
It blends real well with the surrounding, good thing it didnt blow up
Nice picture! Really see every details. Thanks for sharing.
Sad, very sad! | |
Spoilers are not seen because they were retracted in preparation for the evac (as per "memory item"). I would assume they were armed and subsequently deployed upon landing... Pic looks a bit like a scene from a movie, doesn't it?
Why there are no spoilers?
I dont think this photo should be posted, because a young boy lost his life as a result of the accident!
The insurence work company above the left wing is certainly going to have a lot of work to do!!!!! God bless the boy that got killed....
The unsualness of the incident and the timing of the photographer makes this pic a great shot.
One thing that strikes me is that accident occured 33 years before an accident occured at the same airport on the same day.
Now, you hardly see anything like this everyday. And even with a skidding of the plane, YOU NEVER SEE THIS HAPPENING!! This is an amazing event... Gabriel, good work. :)
Well, she certainly is a clean aircraft!
Unbelivable | |
Nice photo! To bad someone got killed... My hart goes to the boy and his family.
Hopefully was in here and not at ORD... #1
Does anyone know the fate of the aircraft? Its a very nice shot, clearly shows rudder deflection
Great detail, I love this photo, great job!
No spoilers? | |
Wow... Amazing... And will this plane be re-used? God bless the victims
Amazing photo. Gabriel I wish you photos like this
