Great picture | |
3 feet lower and the pilot would have kissed the ground, hard.
Very cool i like it | |
That Guy has balls! | |
Nice pic. The place is just like that: direct from the beach to the runway. The other side is almost the same: Hill, runway, sea (approach slow, touch early, break hard; otherwise, splash!). An airport only for experts. Best of all: no fences - and, please, keep it that way; I strongly disagree with sugestions for fences!
Travelled on these planes between Guernsey & Jersey for years. Little Joey is what we call them and they are brilliant! Noisy but usual;ly flown by Biggles! e UK planes and loved by the Channel Islanders and Scottish Islands where they are still used also I think. One landed on a Jersey beach in an emergency once - safely! No bathers upset!
How irresponsible to fly a propelar aircraft that close to people. If you go to the website below you'll see that the airport os not fenced of and seems to be a very dangerous airport to take off or land at. Crazy!. http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://blogs.herald.com/photos/uncategorized/plane_land_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://blogs.herald.com/dave_barrys_blog/2007/01/for_those_of_yo.html&h=1066&w=800&sz=653&hl=en&start=2&um=1&tbnid=rsEXSIuynJ2vpM:&tbnh=150&tbnw=113&prev=/images%3Fq%3DSt.%2BBarthelemy%2B%2Bairport%26imgsz%3Dxxlarge%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den
I like how every body is looking at the plane except for the guy under it
I'd like to restate my last comment. That is a very superb (and scary shot). Looks pretty dangerously close to the ground. Probably not more than about 5 meters. He could have hit those people on the beach if he had been unlucky enough.
That plane is so low you could reach out and touch it without standing up!!!!!!!
That plane is LOW!!!! If it had gotten any lower, it would have touched down right on the beach. Definitely awesome shot.
Great placement of aircraft and background. Now this is flying!
This looks so much better than Juliana! If only there were jets...
Pretty perfect | |
HEY,THATS ME UNDER THE PLANE
I just have one thing to say for beach goers there... DUCK!!!!
Having landed here several times, this really captures in a calm/westerly wind at SBH. Here you approach from the sea and not over the hill. Once commited no go around! Also an BN-2 would be flying at some 50-55 kts, so a well shot photo!
That had to have been scary for the guy lying under the plane.
Nice pic. That looks extremely dangerous. At least SXM has a fence.
Cool , I live a couple of miles away from that island , i should visit that beach someday!!
This plane probably came from SXM.
Why should they put up a fence there ??? Some gears would tear it down before the paint was dry ;) Btw, excellent shot !!!
This is an incredibly rare landing for SBH. Either a bizzare wind or downwind training. The most beautiful airport in the world!
Please, no more funny loonie minded folks. Time for a fence!
WOW but should they really have the runway open????
Eeek! Crazy guy! | |
Man i need to get out there.... lol nice pic
The guy is not really under the aircraft,Five Stars!for timing and angle.
I wish I was the guy under the plane... That's crazy... and maybe a little dangerous too, but that is still really cool.
That's a low approach. It makes Maho Beach at SXM look like child's play.
Great picture, however I find the landing area very dangerous since it seems everyone can get onto the runway. Is it the case?
The only thng this approach needs to completely beat Maho Beach are some A340s or a few 747s........That would be literally mind blowing.
Wow, that guy laying down is crazy. I wonder if anyone has ever been hit by a plane there. Sweet pic..
Yes, it surprised me too that there is no fence...
If he likes praying at the beach and does not mind the one or the other sandcorn in his eyes. Its perfectly safe under a BN landing shortfield.
That is one awesome photo. I know another reason why the guy is lying down......so you can't see the brown patch on the back of his shorts!!!
Fantastic photo! Really captures the moment. To the yank who said they should put a fence - how would the planes land if there was a fence?
Wow they should put a fence or something similar. Especially for the kids, looks like they can go on the runway too!
Wow, an approach like this beats Maho Beach any day!!
