HB-JMA (cn 538) ZRH at its very best! I've been waiting for these conditions for years! I like how this new year is starting out...To me this is it: For a shot like that I do this hobby. LX 41 from LAX coming in on rwy 14 in front of the Swiss Alps. It finally worked...yes!

Indeed the runway does look short from this angle, but the outstanding job to capture this photo makes us forget about the runway and look at the Albs and the A340!

Ausgezeichnet Fabian! ... thanks for waiting for this moment and posting it here. Although I was born and live in the UK I have dual Swiss nationality, and there's nothing I like to see better than the Schweizerkreuz on a tail fin and the Swiss Alps. Photos like this make me feel homesick and that's a big complement to the photographer! Fantastic photography of one of the best airports in the world with the most beautiful and awesome scenery that you could ever hope to find anywhere. Congratulations!

This photograph is one in a million chance by getting the clarity of atmosphere, the sunlight in the right place to show up the aircraft and the detail in the whole of the rest of the picture. this is submitted by a pro photogrpher of 30yrs that would be over the moon to get a photo of this quality.

I like the contrast between The Alps and The A340, Absoluty Awesome!

A visitor from United States posted Sat April 15, 2006:
That is LX41 in all her glory! Her sister flight LX40 [ZRH to LAX] is equally amazing. I have been fortunate enought to travel this route on the A340 many times. Nothing like Swiss Air - well now Luftansa. Rwy 14 at ZRH does indeed have an incline. As you turn and descend to final you look out the window and think the rwy is too short and were landing downhill. Then you see the Alps and think, if we go around can we clear the Alps? The terminal is just off to the right. Once you touchdown the A340 stops effortlessly. Just another gorgeous day in Zurich...off the plane onto the train....travel continues.

A visitor from United States posted Wed April 12, 2006:
Lets see this bird at RDU!

BTW for the questions about the RWY: RWY 14 is 3300 meters or 10827 feet long. I think long enough ;)
