JA**** TDA was the predecessor of today's Japan Air Systems (JAS). Their early -81's could more closely be called 'Stretched-40's' as they did not have the -80's digital cockpit nor the -80's chemical oxygen generators. This particular airplane, I was told came out 1-1/2 inch short of design length and was not discovered until it arrived in Tokyo when the airline's maintenance training personnel did an actual measurement!
