A visitor from - posted Sat April 5, 2008:These exceptional aircraft need more powerful and efficient engines. For example, try using Allison T56A-15 turboprops (use on C-130) instead of current vintage radial pistons which lack reliability and spare parts compared to newer ones.
A visitor from - posted Sat April 5, 2008:From this view the 200ft span seem enormous. Not only that, the wing root looks very thick too.
A visitor from - posted Fri April 4, 2008:These aircraft are unique in being the only two left in service. Their large capacity (more than twice that of a C-130) make them extremely useful in firefighting service. Not only that, since they are seabase planes, they can operate closer to the battlezone. It would be sad to see these planes out of service.
