They go up in fame, and down in flame, as the saying goes.
Well i was there,it seemed that no one was paying attention to the small aircrafts when suddenly the Piper crashed into the water; this is how it happened: 3 Airplanes where doing some basic formation, 2 Cessnas 152 or 150 and a PA-38, i dont know about you but i flew both aircrafts and know that to keep up to the slow speed of the c-152 in the pa-38 you have to be doing some slow flight, so they where circling around the lagoon, the pa-38 was the leader and the 2 c-152 on the sides, the last manouver was a liz flower, flying from the lagoon into the people, the pa-38 seemed to be real slow and the pilot tried to pull the aircraft to much, so eventually it stalled but not completely cause he banked right to avoid the people (actually i owe my life to the pilot) so it was coming down aprox from 200-300ft and hit the water with the right wing and inmediatly caused and explosion coming from the lft wing and started a fire, minutes later the pilots where back on the ground by the rescue force, in my personal opinnion the pilots made a bad move, because i saw how the elevator was being pulled all the time during the stall and i didnt heared a change in the motor rpms, also i remember that a stall in tha plane can be recovered without losing more than 80-100ft im not an investigator but i think that maybe it could be prevented with a little more practice and by keeping a cold mind. However the pilots made it out alive and thats the best thing about all, and prevented a bigger disaster by banking right. Greets Cap.Erich Harrsch
Poor Piper :'( But she saved pilots' lives, for what the machine is blessed. I'm glad to hear they came out okay.
Happy to hear nobody was dead!
Thank God the pilots made it! Always sad to see a write-off..

Great photo; tragic end to an aircraft. Glad to hear no one was killed. --DtD
Wow, it's a wonder they survived!
Happy to hear that pilots are alive (From Iran)
Tomahawk is a pretty hard plane to get into any trouble - wonder what was happening exactly...
Did they survive? | |
