This mighty Doug started its life with KLM in 1957, registered PH-DSI. Via Aer Turas, Affretair and La Manche Air, she finally ended up with TAL. Close inspection revealed that the original KLM name "Zuider Zee" could still be seen on the nose. TAL were the last Miami based operator of the "magnificent seven" but sent it off on lease to Filair in Zaire in 1998. Sadly, she never came back and was last reported derelict at Kinshasa

My first love. Worked on her as a rookie out of ERAU in 82. I was 20 and worked for La Mancha. Sad to hear she's a derelict.

First airplane i worked on was N101LM, this baby, the old affretair bird, in corrosion corner. La Mancha Aire hired me as a mechanic right out of ERAU. This is back in 1982. I LOVE THESE OLD BIRDS.
