Rare 40 year old image of near new TAA DC-9 VH-TJL (Del: August 1967) climbing out (with wing leading edges still extended) from Melbourne's Essendon Airport in 1968. My first flight in a TAA DC-9 was from Mascot Sydney to Essendon in VH-TJP, on 29Apr1970. Apologies for low image quality.

I believe this photo is worth 4 stars because..1 I flew this a/c in command 2 it is a unique angle 3 there are only a few photos of TAA DC9's 4any TAA pilot who flew thee a/c will tell you it is the best a/c they ever flew.

Rare shot indeed. Later the highlighting around the regisration was removed and just the letters painted on the bottom of the wing. Also, great plan view of the DC-9 form
