Epic picture of an enigmatic and controversial aircraft, magical colors and atmosphere. This is oneof the most beautiful pictures I've seen here. Thanks for sharing! -Zoydian.

Shot at an unflattering angle but least it's in focus.

This could easily be the best picture at airliners.net

I guess cockroaches DO fly! :)

Beautiful, brilliant, stunning shot of undoubtedly on of the best a/c to fly, but not reach production! Britain always had the best aviation industry, it's a shame politics interfered. Beauty, functionality and performance, British a/c had (and the few still being built still have) it all!
A visitor from Netherlands posted Fri January 27, 2012:
This could/should be a book cover! Iconic shot of an iconic plane. Even the dark clouds above it are symbolic...

A beautiful shot of an awesome machine. Sad it's early demise.

Dreams of what could and would have been... Who knows how far and what this magnificent aircraft could have been developed into. It was designed as a fighter interceptor not a fighter bomber like the F-111, the Mirage and many other terrific aircraft. Sadly the British politicians of that era where as short sighted then as they are today.
Politics aside as a Photo this is actually a VERY GOOD and Very emotional image. The background captures the dark skies that seemed to haunt the project all the while showing off what a cutting edge design it was. Well done!
A visitor from United States posted Sat May 14, 2011:
Well.....I have never seen or heard of this plane before now. Yes, I agree, it's a very "dramatic" photo.
Having just said that........It's not the least bit "pretty"! It may be "ahead of it's time", it may any number of things, but "pretty" it's not !
But a great photo of a "not pretty" plane..............
A visitor from United States posted Sat May 14, 2011:
"would've flown circles around the F-111"? In your dreams. TSR.2 was and always will be overrated. Nice looking plane though
A visitor from Australia posted Sat May 14, 2011:
Beautiful lighting and composition - a truly amazing photo of an amazing aircraft.
A visitor from United States posted Tue April 19, 2011:
Great picture. I had never heard of this aircraft until today!
A visitor from - posted Sun January 30, 2011:
Ugly?? The TSR.2 has to be the Slickest-n-Sexiest strike aircraft ever! It would've flown circles around the F-111
A visitor from - posted Thu December 30, 2010:
OMG...If its an ugly one its got to be British!
A visitor from - posted Thu September 30, 2010:
Wow, even though this Aircraft was built on 1960's, it's still looks like a futuristic aircraft
A visitor from - posted Tue May 4, 2010:

Amazing picture, amazing aircraft. Attractive and badass-looking.
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri May 22, 2009:

A visitor from United States posted Fri May 22, 2009:
What an Amazing photo! I'm speechless, the darkness makes truly amazing.

0 mph never looked so fast...
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri July 11, 2008:
There are some great photos of this superb aircraft already out there...but this one somehow captures what was not to be..the implied threat, the menace as it simply stands like a bird of prey, you just know in seconds it could go from looking the part to being airborne and delivering a supersonic attack under the enemy defences and be home before the dust settled. Even the gloomy sky somehow adds to the overall effect. A truly great shot,if i'd taken this I would now have sold the camera gear and taken up fishing as i'd never be able to top this one.

It is really effective because the colours match the time of day. I wish the TSR2 was still flying.
A visitor from Australia posted Fri June 29, 2007:
There is a simple elegance here - probably enforced by the almost black & white effect - and the drama of the sky accentuates the tragedy of the TSR-2 story.
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sat December 23, 2006:
A wonderful balance between the silhouetted lines of the TSR2 and the curves highlighted by the reflected skylight.
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sat December 23, 2006:
A wonderfully evocative picture that leaves me wodering "What if it had'nt been cancelled...?"
A visitor from Canada posted Sat November 25, 2006:
This is a great angle and has dramatic lighting, it makes the tsr look like an eagle waiting to strike.! And hey at least the Brits have a complete example of their governments short sightedness, all Canada has left of the Avro arrow is the nose section and one of the main undercarriages.

This photo captures the beautiful lines of an aircraft way ahead of it's time. Politicians hang your heads in shame for the destruction of the British Aircraft Industry!!

Best pic of a plane i have been i love with since it first blasted over st marks school on the very edge of salisbury plain in 1964.possibly the best plane ever designed ?
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sun March 26, 2006:
A dramatic photograph of a dramatic aircraft destroyed under dramatic circumstances to Great Britains shame.
A visitor from New Zealand posted Fri March 17, 2006:
Excellent lighting and angle of a strange aircraft.
A visitor from Canada posted Tue March 7, 2006:
Ghostly looking thing, an excellent photo.
A visitor from Netherlands posted Mon February 20, 2006:
Nice picture, the aircraft with the cloudy sky behind it looks great,it's like a scene out of a scifi movie.
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri February 3, 2006:
This photograph makes the TSR2 look like a sinister, predatory bird. Most appropriate, considering its intended role.
A visitor from France posted Fri February 3, 2006:
You know, with its nose wheel engaged, is gonna take-off... Oups, you're wrong little french guy. Here is the TSR-2, the "may be best plane ever" they didn't want.
Cry and enjoy !
Thanks for this wonderful pic that feeds back (is it correct ?) all the drama of this aircraft. A fast and handsome plane which prefers darkness to light.
A visitor from Australia posted Wed February 1, 2006:
Thunderbirds are go...WOW looks like a scene from a sci-fi film.
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri January 27, 2006:

Pure and clean design. Cannot tell if photo is in color but who cares? Rare bird appears to be moving fast while standing still and is ahead of its' time.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri December 30, 2005:
Still (after all these years) a futuristic looking aircraft. You have captured this beauty in a light that only enhances its 'magical' charisma. How could any government destroy such a wonderful achievement in the world of (military) aviation?
A visitor from United States posted Thu December 29, 2005:
Aaaaah , Beautiful shot Michael!! If only someone could fly it again and you could get some great aerial photographs!! Dream on!! Thanks for the photo!!
