I suspect it was called Beverley, as Beverley is a lovely old market town close to Brough in East Yorkshire where this aircraft was manufactured. Well worth a visit if you're ever in that part of the world!
Ungainly, yes, but it has true beauty in its utilitarian design.
Great shot of a very ungainly aircraft. It looks awkward, as if it wants to be back in the ground. It seems the designers could not solve the problem of how to have retractable gear while maintaining the aircraft's load-carrying ability. Are there any other four-engine aircraft with fixed gear? And who would name an aircrfat model 'Beverley"?! Crazy.
A great pleasure to see such a rare photo
I think this one is the second ugliest plane ever built, second only to the Ilyushin Il-102. And it's a close call...
I'm wondering everytime anew, how it's possible to get a wardrobe to fly.
