XX312 (cn 148/312137) The RAF’s fast jet training requirement has diminished such that the T.1 training fleet at Valley is to be retired completely by July 2012; the task is to be undertaken by the newly re-formed 4 Sqn with the 28-strong fleet of T.2s under the management of ‘industry partner’ Ascent (a Lockheed Martin - Babcock consortium). Meanwhile, high-hour T.1s are being consigned to storage at Shawbury to bolster the Red Arrows, 100 Sqn and FRADU fleets, whose service lives have been extended to 2025.
