XZ286 (cn 8048) Was one of a small batch of Nimrod aircraft converted to AEW configuration. The system did not conform to specification and the whole project was scrapped in favour of the U.S built Sentry aircraft. This particular airframe was scrapped at RAF Abingdon during 1991.
