Remark Photographer
JX273 / F On the night of 12May1944 this Catalina of 302 FTU, 17 (Training) Group, Coastal Command, on a training flight from Oban with a full load of depth charges, crashed on high ground on the Hebridean island of Vatersay following a compass failure. 3 of the 9 crew were killed. Recovery crews dragged the wreckage down the hill and took much of it away but amazingly, some of it is still there. JX273 was a Mk1b built in 1943 by Boeing in Vancouver.
