A visitor from Australia posted Tue October 20, 2009:Exceedingly ugly, but strikingly beautiful. You have managed to capture both sides and more, of this magnificent British masterpiece. Thanks!
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Wed July 15, 2009:Fantastic British cold war jet. Five were used as refuelers in the then longest solo bombing mission of 4000 miles from Ascension Island to the Falklands in 1982. One Victor had to transfer all its fuel to another in flight when damaged by a tropical storm. The accompanying Vulcan dropped its bombs successfully due to the ability of the Handley Page Victor. Frederick Handley Page (1885-1962) designed the first big RAF bombers of WWI and the famous Halifax heavy bomber of WW2. The company continued until 1970.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Thu July 31, 2008:In answer to a question above, I believe this aircraft was a tanker. Whether this particular one would have been one of those used in re fuelling Vulcan XH558 on her way to the Falklands, I wouldn't like to say, but it could well have been

A visitor from France posted Fri June 6, 2008:The shot brings out the sheer power of the beast - both the angle and the spray from the engines and "gets" that moment bfore brakes off and the start iof the take-off run. The Victor always had that "hunched" look of a rugby forward about to engage in the pack, the Mk2 even more than the Mk.1. What I'd call a "massive" shot ... Thanks indeed. John Price
