ZE164 / GD (cn 532/AS017/3239) Standing by...Q1 - the designator for one of two Tornado F3s on Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) or just Q for short - sits fully crewed-up in its Hardened Aircraft Shelter (HAS). Nos. 43(F) and 111(F) Squadrons are the last remaining Tornado F3 units tasked to provide crews and aircraft at 10 minutes readiness, 365 days a year, to police the UK's airspace. Q jets are typically armed with 4x AMRAAM and 4x ASRAAM air-to-air missiles, plus high explosive rounds for its internally mounted 27mm Mauser cannon.

Who's that sitting in the cockpit ????? the lad looks very much like my son Chris D.M whos an air frame tach at leuchers and was on the f3,s and Q during 2008.
