Nice (!) to see inside a "coal hole" again ! I used to service AI 18 scanners and associated equipment ,especially the AI 18 "indicator" pictured here ; there are two "scopes" , one for azimuth and one for elevation.Removing an indicator ( and re-fitting one ) involved lying upside down on the observer's seat and feeling for the Plessey plugs on the back of the unit . I did this one day to a Vixen of 766 Squadron ,and all my loose change ended up under the seat ! The a/c was grounded ,the seat removed , and I was not popular !
