XJ521 / R-243 (cn 10030) I seem to remember that this event was a rehearsal (to which Joe Public were admitted) for some sort of Royal review. It was a long journey by rail and hitchhiking from London for me!

Great shot, which gives a good overview of an era. I envy the aircraft diversity they had in those days, which makes ours seem boring by comparison.

A fantastic collection of aircraft in liveries that nowadays would be considered strange. Those outgoing AEW Gannets in the back are a rare sight! Thanks for sharing!

Wow, fantastic photograph! Just look at the "Bucc"s and the Vixen is a beaut too!

On some rare ocassion, i vote a 5 star. This is that moment. Very beautiful picture, reminds me of my days making scale models. Great looking plane and background here.

Evocative and fascinating.
A pretty broad representation of the FAA in 1964, I like the Gannets in the air too.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Tue July 15, 2008:
Anti-flash white! 'nuff said I think. The helicopters look rather old and tired, but the Sea Vixen looks spot on.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Wed May 30, 2007:
Fantastic shot!
Sea Vixens, Buccaneers and the flying aircraft seem to be Fairey Gannets.
Plus the helicopters.

The quality of this photo is just amazing for a 1964 shot !
