XR442 (cn 14102) Two of the five Sea Herons of the RNAS Yeovilton station flight are seen here on the apron on a stormy day. The aircraft were maintained at RAF Kemble and kept pristine but were historic even then, the crews wearing leather flying jackets because of inadequate heating. Shards of ice flying off the props and crashing into the cabin often frightened passengers. (Thanks to Lt Cdr Tony White for the tour)(Pentax 35mm; colour print film; Canon 8800F scanner)
